Family Fuel, Inc. will serve the families of our community in new and exciting ways. The Family Fuel, Inc. mission statement is fueling healthy families. We are prevention oriented. We strongly believe that a family does not have to be in crisis or fall apart to get services, but prevention services can make stronger families and a stronger community. We are extremely excited about the direction Family Fuel, Inc. is taking with the three focus areas that support families and our community: Anti-Bullying Campaign Every preschool and elementary school we have come into contact with has said that the bully problem is much worse then ever. Our anti-bullying campaign has three programs: Bullying Starts in Preschool This is a bully program for preschool parents, teachers and directors. This presentation offers anti-bullying strategies for school and home. Stop Bullying! This is an educational interactive geared to 3rd – 6th graders. Together, we identify bullying behaviors, give strategies to deal with bullying and how to avoid being a bystander. Bullying Awareness and Prevention This is for parents, teachers, educators, and administrators to increase their awareness of bullying, know how to diffuse it, and how to work successfully with each other. School Counselor Partnership This is a program to partner with the school districts (Santa Barbara, Goleta and Hope) working directly with the school counselors to identify families with challenges. The identified families will be given scholarships to attend practical parenting trainings and have ongoing support services, like support groups and email and phone support. Starting School Strong This is a program that has every family take a parenting class prior to enrolling their child into kindergarten. This will give families a strong start and give teachers an advantage by not having to deal with as many discipline situations at the kindergarten level. These are some of the programs that Family Fuel, Inc. is currently piloting. We look forward to partnering with local foundations to make families stronger and our community safer.
