Additional Testimonials
“The Santa Barbara School Districts support Family Fuel's Program, “Starting
School Strong,” to provide parent education to all incoming kindergarten parents.
We anticipate that the program will help increase school success for participating
families.
The Santa Barbara School Districts agree to encourage parents take advantage of
the classes and on-going services as a part of their registration for kindergarten.
We feel this is an innovative and helpful service to support social change in our
community and encourage the partnership of local foundations and Family Fuel to
bring this to a reality.”
J. Brian Sarvis, Ed.D., Former Superintendent, Santa Barbara School District
“As the principal of Washington Elementary School in Santa Barbara, I find Family
Fuel to be an important resource. They provided a parent workshop on discipline
that was extremely well received by the Washington School community. Family
Fuel was also able to provide a valuable workshop on bullying. In both workshops,
the level of information, the professionalism, and the approach were all grade
appropriate and effective. Family Fuel has proven itself to be a trusted resource in
our school community.”
Demian Barnett, Washington Elementary School Principal
“Hope School parents joined Steve Osterhage from Family Fuel recently for an
Introduction to their highly regarded parenting program. Participants took home
many practical strategies to utilize immediately at home involving giving children
choices, setting limits, and applying consistent natural consequences for
misbehavior. It was an outstanding presentation, and I am sure that those in
attendance would join me in highly recommending the class to anyone who wants
to learn to parent with Love and Logic.”
Barbara LaCorte, Hope School Principal
"Although I have been a teacher for eighteen years, I found that the Love and Logic
concepts and principles could be effectively woven into my classroom discipline
and management style. I highly recommend the Love and Logic strategies for all
teachers and parents!"
Jennifer Summerset, Veteran Elementary School Teacher
“I attended a session of Starting School Strong and found it to be both a positive
and powerful lesson for parents and staff. Parents were offered strong strategies
to use with their children in a comfortable and meaningful manner. The presenter
used short vignettes, video clips, and discussion / questions time to help parents
fully understand the philosophy of Love and Logic.
The English presenter and Spanish speaking interpreter worked skillfully as a team
to pace the information well and ensure parent’s understanding of the material.
If only I could have had this great training 20 years ago when my own children
were young!
I recommend this training to anyone who is interested in ending the battles with
their child and building a positive relationship.”
Jennie Martinez, Child Development Coordinator, Santa Barbara School District
“The Love and Logic Program is easy to understand and easy to practice. Respect
is the foundation for all Love and Logic interactions and when anyone, child or
adult is approached with respect the results are rewarding. If children are spoken
with in a respectful tone and manner, we are setting up a fantastic example of how
they can interact with the rest of the world.”
Sonia Diaz-Ebadi, Director, Casa Alegria Preschool
“Love and Logic has taught me better ways to communicate to my kids and
motivate them as well. I’m teaching and guiding them to make good choices at a
young age which will help them later in life when they are faced with more serious
decision making.”
Veronica Murphy, Elementary School Parent
